Troy, have you seen the Python Cowboy youtube videos? I've been binge-watching his channel lately. He has a dog that looks like Daffy that retrieves invasive iguanas in Florida. It's pretty cool to watch. He also has one of his hog dogs trained to find pythons .

Where there's a kayak cart, there's a way! Tony and I did it a few years ago during the Hillbilly Bash. BTW we will be at Hillbilly Acres April 23-25. Welcome to come on by! This will always be one of my favorite pictures. You both have the look of, "what were we thinking." If you said “let’s go to Back Lake Sunday” I’d be down. It’s a haul but worth it

I've hiked into Back Lake many times. One of my favorite fishing stories comes from that lake but it's too long to post on here right now. Hilly, how in the world did you get your kayak clear back there? Where there's a kayak cart, there's a way! Tony and I did it a few years ago during the Hillbilly Bash. BTW we will be at Hillbilly Acres April 23-25. Welcome to come on by!

Say what!? I'm gonna need more of the story lol. Is there something special about sunken cypress trees? Yep! They're worth big bucks! LOL. So about 150 years ago they were logging the cypress trees in Florida and would move them by floating them down the rivers. A bunch of the logs would sink. They've been down on the bottom of the rivers all this time and have been preserved by the cool deep water. Now there's people who dive down and find them and bring them up to sale. There was even a TV show about it a few years ago and mom and dad seen them filming out on the water. WOW! That's pretty cool. I wonder what a board foot of that stuff costs. I'm gonna look into this more lol

I walked on water yesterday on my buddy's pond in Monroe County. 4.5-5.5" mixture of clear and clouded ice. There were also some pure junk spots. I did a lot of spudding. Caught 4 fish. until next year.....

Here's my ice report: I checked my buddy's pond in southwest Monroe County. It is an old spring-fed pond that he re-dug a few years ago and stocked. The dig ended up failing because it filled back up with sediment and it is only about 7 foot at its deepest. The plan is to try again this summer so he wants all the fish out which are just now good keeper size. Anyhow, it is full of junk ice. Probably 2-2.5" of it. Then I went to my neighbor's pond in the Bloomfield area. It is sheltered from the wind, but it also sits in a gully and drains a lot of water from two or three other ponds on top of the hill. That being said, in the two winters I've fished it, it has seemed to build ice fast and keep it. It was junk ice too!
I have no doubt there are some places with the right circumstances that are safe to fish. However, I would be very leery of trusting some of these reports and just go traipsing onto any frozen pond you see. Depending on how this next snow storm turns out, it will probably be worth checking again this Friday.

I'm gonna poke around on my buddy's pond this week and see what it looks like. I'm guessing this snow ruined our chances to get on anything solid.

Sweet! I can't believe Tony didn't enter his catch. I'll let him tell the whole story one of these days, but I let him borrow my surf rod a couple of weeks after I got back from Louisiana. He went to South Carolina and caught a nice shark!

I’d be interested in kayaking that oxbow lake.
