Pretty nice bass. I'm starting to think the fall feed bag thing is a farce...at least in the creeks. Just got to figure when and where. Fall bite is actually just beginning.

I got a nice one finally dead sticking a G&G Finesse Jig shallow near a drop off. He hit it hard after he decided he wanted to eat. IMG_0811 by fishinphoto, on Flickr

Do you find it harder to fish when the water is low? From what I've read the fish tend to be a bit spookier in low water, so you have to move like a ninja and make long casts. I am a ninja! Really fish in general nature look for cover a place to hide. Shallow clear water does not suit there needs. They will seek out deep or cloudy water were they can hide ambush there pray. As you progress in your stream fishing ventures you will learn many things are the same as other bodys of water, but many things are different. For example if you have fish holding in a deeper pool, the fish you cant see but your gut says they are there. you cast into the pool, no takers. So a tactic that has worked for me countless times is run your bait in the clear water at the edge of the pool. Hold on because there gonna smash it. This is because stream fish are not lazy eaters, they use everything to there advantage and will go several feet to attack there prey. The largemouth I caught sunday I be traveled 20 feet and hit that bait so hard he came out of the water when he got to it. I got this smallie yesterday in the same manner. This is my favorite kind of fishing by far. Give me a small box with some mini chubs, some twister tails, and a few cranks and I would put it up against anything in the world. 3lb smallmouth out of a stream 2 mi from your house on light tackle and nobody to bug you but the eagles and the rest of nature. This is why I fish this is who I am. I guess I turned this into a long rant. To answer your question the stream changes daily and you have to change with it.

After work I stopped by a spot for a quick fishing fix. Using a white G&G Mini Chub I got a nice little smallie and a rock bass. Creek is really low but I always have fun at the creek.

Had smallmouth on the brain. Did not get any smallies but got a nice chunky largemouth on my ultralight and a G&G Mini Chub. Watch in HD if your connection allows.
