I had a bluegill under a bobber most of the evening and only managed to get one bite.
I threw George's Tournament Special with no luck. I threw a crankbait with no luck. I broke out the buzz bait right at dark and no luck. The bass seemed to be rather tight lipped last night.
Nedo told me that he caught a few bass Friday night with his neighbor and they were using a purple worm. Maybe I should have gone that route.

I started fishing around 6:30. The bite was slow for a bit and picked up as the evening went along. I caught a good number of decent bluegill. I caught a couple that were bait size and I was able to use one to hook up with a nice bass...

Very nice bass. I saw that picture on FB the other day, but wasn't sure who the feller was.
I think Hillenbrand is a hidden gem.

I met up with Joey B. of Willowpine Outdoors to do some fishing yesterday evening. We got to Eagle Creek around 6:00 and started out fishing the coves for bass. We were throwing cranks and the bite was really slow. I hooked into a largemouth early and a white bass later, but that was it. Apparently they had plenty of bait fish, because the water was popping all around us. We trolled cranks for walleye, but had no takers. He was seeing a lot of fish, but they didn't seem interested in fake fish with plenty of real ones available. Joey was a good captain, so that made up for the slow fishing. Plus, I learned a few things and that is always good. Eagle Creek Reservoir is a really nice place. I enjoyed the calmness of the lake and the fact that the only idiots on the water were those in the sailboats. We didn't measure it, but I'm pretty sure this largemouth was longer than the minimum... Nice sunset on the water as well...

Now you'll be looking for guides near Chesapeake Bay so you can hook into a fifty pounder.

I'm guessing that catching those fish more than made up for having to leave at 3:00 am.
I know from our chats when I was up your way that catching a striper is something you really wanted to do. It is a great thing that an online community made that happen.

Well he looks like he'll be decent anyway. I went out for a bite to eat this evening and when I turned down the street towards the house I noticed a deer on the hill in a small clearing across the street. On second look I realized it was a buck. I watched as he started across the street towards the neighborhood up the road. I pulled into the driveway and grabbed the camera. I went back out and realized he was eating apples in the back of someone's yard... He thought he could hide in the apple tree and I wouldn't see him... Then he decided he was going to try and head back to the woods across the field in front of the high school... But he had second thoughts... After a brief stare down he decided to head the other way... Which led him right in front of me... And around the corner.... To the woods on the edge of my buddy's yard... I sent my buddy a text telling him I just chased a nice buck toward his yard. He sent me a response that he was by his garage... I have to admit, when he was staring me down my hands got a little shaky. Apparently you get buck fever even with a camera.

Ten and a half inch bluegill/redear hybrid. I'd never seen one this big and didn't realize they were in my grandma's pit, but this thing was a horse... Entry #6
