Last Saturday we were planning to go fish a pond at my buddy's great aunt's house. I knew the pond held some good bass, and I figured the dink bluegill at the pond in the local park would be the perfect bait. I set out in the morning to catch a few to take with us...
Esau and I went back to retrieve our minnow trap then we were off to see if he could catch his first largemouth...
It wasn't the big bass I was hoping he'd hook into, but he was excited either way and that is the important part.

I figured that one was a given, but that TLBELL channel guy does love him some kayaks.
I'm counting on Chase to come through with some good gear hack/setup channels.

There is probably a thread somewhere already, but I'm too lazy to search for it. What are some YouTube fishing channels you guys subscribe to?

I really like the battery pack idea. I see that being helpful while hunting and bank fishing, but I'm not sure the added weight would work well when I'm creek fishing...plus the cable getting in the way.
I'm also trying to think of a good alternative to the head mount for my JVC camera. I like the chest rig, but I don't think it would work with my chest pack I wear in the creek.

Took my boy to the local park again to work on his casting and catching...

Greenie, just so you know, every time I see you mention anything about a kayak I will forever picture you as the Anthony Adams meme where he is lurking behind a tree and rubbing his hands together.

No idea then. I got gen4 a year ago it has been flawless for the most part. Maybe dumb down the hd settings on the vids or upgrade equipment. They will usually work with you.[/quote] The equipment was just installed in the last three months. YT videos in low def still buffer and they can't even FaceTime on the phone. I think they are just in the land of crappy internet at this point...and HughesNet roped them in on a two-year contract.

HughesNet is a bunch better now, believe it or not. I'm in an internet desert a half mile from Greenwood, just because no one will run a line down my road and I cant hit the local microwave antenna. I can't rely on Verizon for hot spot constantly with my home business. Much better than when I had them 20 years ago. Video streams fine, just that 3 second latency to bounce of the satellite. Speeds are good. They can't watch videos on YouTube or anything on Netflix due to the buffering being so bad. I have done a speed test when hooked up to their router and it is usually less than 20 mbps download.

What do you guys have out in the sticks that isn't HughesNet? That's what my folks got when they moved to my grandma's house and it is pretty terrible. You can barely watch a video on YouTube for all the buffering.

Finally got a chance to watch...he did GREAT!!! I loved how excited he was! It was pretty cool to watch him put it all together, from casting in the yard and then to actually get a fish on the line.

Took my son to a local park that has an old farm pond that is managed by the DNR. It is full of dink bluegill, but it's a good place for the boy since you will get a dunk of the bobber on about every cast. He has been working on casting in the yard lately, so I wanted take him out and let him go through the whole process of catching a fish on his own.

The surface temperature was right at 75°. Took a few minutes, but that one did swim away.

Fished Bass Lake with a friend from work Monday afternoon/evening. We got on the water around 1600 and fished until dark. I was throwing jerkbaits and spinnerbaits with a bit of topwater stuff. My friend was throwing actual musky plugs and bass lures when he got tired of the heavy stuff. He had seven follows, the last came on a spinnerbait and the fish did everything but take the lure. I had two follows, one on a spinnerbait and one on a jerkbait, one fish bit a spinnerbait with no hookup and I caught one on a spinnerbait... He caught two short, but chunky bass. I was bummed he couldn’t get a musky to bite, but he said he was happy with the number of fish he saw. He’s caught musky on trips to Minnesota, but he was happy to know there’s a decent musky fishery close to home. We were trolling to a different spot and I had my spinnerbait in the water about two or three feet down. The fish appeared out of no where and inhaled the lure. Kinda took me by surprise. Still a good fight even though it was close to the boat.

Greene County was the turkey champs for Indiana this year. I think we need to get some t-shirts made.

Those are some big lures. Gonna dump the Pelican in at Bass Lake?
