thats a good argument box traps are good but they are bulky and expencive and hard to set sometimes snares are relatively cheap and can be modified to act like a dog leash by adding a crimp on deer stop to the snare loop so the snare does not tighten down any more than what a collar would be on a dog or cat

you could shot them but you risk being in trouble with yur local conservation office i know where i live if you shoot any wild animal that is damageing yur property you have to call a conservation officer and surrender the the animal to them plus if you live inside of city limits you can get fined for discharging a firearm with in city limits which where i live is a class D feloney so i would check my state laws before doing that.

what kind of snare wire or cable are you using. if i was using snares even for coons my preference is 7x7 3/32" galvinized aircraft cable. mr coon will be there even if he is chewing on the cable but after the first catch yur probably gonna want to use another snare cause they get pretty narly after an animal chews on them. if you can post some pics so we can have a better idea of what yur dealing with that would be cool.

Went back to the Kickapoo dock this afternoon. I caught one decent gill and that was the only bite. I did get to meet jrobins and his wife and got to check out his new Marcum Showdown Troller. I might just have to get one of these, may just be the ticket for someone like me who doesn't get to ice fish that much and doesn't want to break the bank. Booey and Catfishsam went with us and seemed more interested in snowball fights than fishing. hey if you plan on icefishin tomorrow i found some fishable ice on shakamak lake not far from the boat ramp the ice was about 6 1/2 inches or better we plan on gettn out there before 9 so if you feel like fishn give me a holler
