Haven't been in the woods much but I have been hitting the water in the kayak with a buddy. The crappie have been biting pretty good. This was all in one and half hours of fishing.

I made to a trip to Wal-Mart last night and noticed $99 folding shotguns. Hatfield is the brand. Has anyone heard of or used them? I think I might buy a few.

It's short notice but this Saturday, August 27th, there is a catfish tournament at Cecil M Harden Lake aka Raccoon Lake. Registration starts at 4pm and fishing begins at 6pm and weigh in at 12 midnight. Registration and weigh in will be across the dam in the picnic area in a shelter. $50 per team, 2 person teams. Trophy to winner, have a $10 buy in for big fish that pays out. I'm not the one putting this on, but hope to see some of you guys if you can make it. Free food as well.

I have made a few of the wood structures at work. They work pretty good at holding bluegill and crappie. I haven't tried to fish for anything else around them yet.

3 Keeper walleye? I'd risk my life for that too! I guess you will have to take a trip with us one day

So a buddy talked me into going fishing on a creek last Monday and wanted to stay all night. I was hesitant but it really didn't take to much begging before I agreed. My phone had blown up with Severe Storm warnings so I advised him to bring a dry bag with a change of clothes. He brought a trash bag that ripped early in the trip. We paddled upstream about a mile and half to the sand bar and immediately caught fish. My first 3 fish were keeper walleye so I cooked them up on my mess kit. Best meal I have had while kayaking and camping. We caught some catfish, crappie, bluegill and bowfin as well. No sooner than the sun went down the lightening started so I propped my yak up and prepared for a scary night. We both ended up soaking wet but my dry bag did its job. His trash bag did not do such a good job with large hole in the side of it. I can't lie, I felt like a scared little girl when the lightening got real close. I seemed liked it rained until the sun came up. With a few hours of sleep, we hit the creek in the yaks and caught some more fish. All together it was fun, but I will not be doing that again with storms on the way.

I found the camera in the house. It's out there now. Gail thinks birds are doing the damage so she has some metallic balloons floating arolund the garden. Hope it works! I've heard lead is a really good deterrent

I'm really not that sure on time. It was in about 2ft of water when I set the hook and swoosh from its tail gave it away that it was a big fish. From that point I was just focused on trying to not break my rod or snap the line. It made 3 long runs that seemed to never stop and few short runs.

Caught this flathead on 5/22/2016 at around 6 am on rod and reel, using a 10" bluegill for bait. 46" long and 28.5" in girth. No scale to weigh but it was released to spawn again.
