Sorry to hear that the charter didn't go so well. My son and I did a charter when we were in Port St. Lucie/Stuart earlier this month. I was very reluctant to book it because I've heard so many stories similar to yours. However, it was a great trip. The funny thing was the day before we went the captain said they didn't catch many fish but he said almost all of the fish caught were keepers. When we went, we didn't catch any keepers but we probably caught about 30-40 fish and probably lost another 15-20. We caught lots of snook, a few jack's, a sail cat (neat fish), a moray eel and I lost about a 4' long barracuda! It was so much fun. Actually, it was so much fun that I'm actually looking at property in Florida right now! Good luck on the rest of your trip.

I can't believe it's been 10 years already!! I remember that first get together very well. If you guys plan something like that again this year please let me know. I'd love to come down for a long weekend of fishing. I haven't fished much in the last 5-6 years but I plan on changing that this year.

That is one awesome rig! Hard to imagine a jet ski being that stable.

Sure hasn’t been the vacation we planned. Was supposed to fly down Sunday with Chase joining us. I ended up testing positive for covid the night before vacation started. I tested positive for the 'Rona the middle of last week. I had been experiencing head cold type symptoms so I decided to take a test just to see if I had it. Sure enough, I was positive. Started feeling symptoms on Monday and by Thursday night all symptoms were gone. I'm glad I was able to beat the virus pretty quickly. This time was much easier than when I had it in November 2020.

They do bite when it's cold. Just a couple of weeks ago some friends of mine nearly limited out at one of our local lakes and they said they were getting followers on one out of every 15-20 casts. They said it was by far the best musky fishing they've ever witnessed.

Deer season was not great for me. I wasn't able to hunt the spot I hunted in Bloomington last year, so I was back at my grandma's. Never saw a buck from the stand. Had a shot at a couple of does, but I still have meat in the freezer from last year and figured the local herd could stand to have a few more fawns. Glad to see a few folks on here had some luck. I could've harvested a couple of does but, like you, I have plenty of meat in the freezer and we could also use a few extra fawns for next year. So, I opted to hold out for the sake of the herd.

Those air rifles are sweet. I'd love to test one out sometime but it's hard to justify the price tag.

Well, I got it done one week ago today. I had a huge 9 point that was tending a doe for 3 evenings straight a week and a half before firearms season opened. I had him close all three nights but just not close enough for the bow. I was really hoping he would give me a peak during firearms season but we haven't seen him since that last night I saw him. I was really wanting that deer but I wasn't going to ruin my season by making him that only deer I would take. I was very fortunate this year to see more bucks than I've ever seen in any one season. Mostly little bucks but, honestly, I had many more opportunities to harvest bucks this year than does. I actually had an opportunity to shoot a really nice 8 point on the first evening of firearms I had him at 50 yds standing on the edge of a standing corn field and I couldn't see his rack very good at all. Then he started walking away from and at about 100 yds I realized his rack was much bigger than I realized but with a 30mph crosswind I did not feel comfortable with that shot and then he walked down the fencerow and got harvested by a hunter that I didn't even know was there. Shucks!!! Oh well, that's firearms season for ya. Anyhow, I had this buck appear out of nowhere last Tuesday evening at 4:50. I only had a couple seconds to make a decision to shoot this guy or else he was going to be in thick cover with no chance at a shot. I scanned his rack with my scope and saw one really nice tine on the side facing me (he was walking broadside from right to left at about 75yds) and I said to myself "shoot now, and ask questions later". I dropped the crosshairs of my muzzleloader into the kill zone and squeezed the trigger. He ran about 40 yds and disappeared into some fallen trees but then I could see him kicking pretty hard on the ground. I knew he was done at this point. Then all of sudden it hit me...I was like "what did I just shoot?" We have several half racks on our property and instantly I thought "I hope I didn't just shoot a half rack" I knew he was pretty decent but I really didn't know what he was. It took me a bit to find because I thought he was a little further back into the woods than he actually was. I had to walk right past him the first time because he was hidden behind a log. Once I finally found him this was what I saw... I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't able to get any good pictures because by the time my buddies got there to help it was dark and then I woke up to 60 degree temps then next morning and knew I had to get it to the butcher asap. This is all I got...

He was begging for you to shoot him! I rarely get bucks to hang around me for that long. Cool hunt!

Seen 2 deer the entire weekend. 1 Saturday morning around 730am and didn't see the second until Sunday evening around 5:15pm. This may have been my worst opener in quite a while if not ever. I know there are people out there who tagged their buck but no one from my family pulled the trigger this weekend or seen hardly any deer. Back home to take my dog to the vet to get fixed and then I'll get back at it later this week. How was the weather down there? It was rough conditions up here. High winds and rain/snow here. I hunted all weekend and saw one deer...a pretty decent buck. I hunted through 40mph and driving snow yesterday evening. It was miserable.

That may have been my worst week of fantasy I’ve ever had. I lost in all three of my leagues and not one of my players scored a touchdown in BBB. 😅 Keep it up!

Won't be long and I will be making some, too. Football and chili go hand-in-hand.

I've never seen those bat baits before. Who would've thought that would even be a thing?
