A little update...I sold my 16" 5.56 upper and my Rossi Ranch Hand .44 mag to help fund 2 new acquisitions. I replaced the 5.56 upper with a 16" 300 blackout. My other new one is an AR pistol; 8.25" barrel also chambered in 300 blackout. I haven't had the chance to shoot the 16" version yet as I received it this past Wednesday. The pistol on the other hand is really not my cup of tea which has got me chomping at the bit to get a trust set up so I can SBR and suppress the pistol. Both uppers came from Hardened Arms located out in Washington. It took a full week for them to get here. For the 16" I found the Vortex Crossfire 3x9 scope on Cabela's site during the black Friday sales in November. The mount was originally on the 450 bushy until I upgraded the scope on it and had to buy a 30mm ring mount; this one is the 1". This upper has the keymod rail which I'm still getting accustomed too. I had to buy an adapter to fit a "Harris" style bipod on the gun. It is considerably light and has a good feel to it. Also running a 4lb Timney, BCM gun fighter charging handle, nitride finish NiB bcg and a Magpul MOE stock. For me this pistol is nothing more than a novelty as it sits. When I first built it I thought I might leave it as is but after shooting it I just don't care for it. I haven't ordered the trigger that I would like to use in it yet but as I'm not going to shoot it anytime soon I'm not worried about it. My first priority is to get the trust set up and file the paper work to SBR (add a stock) and make this more enjoyable to shoot. I am digging the front grip with the rail covers as it is comfortable. I plan to red dot this and leave the iron sights on as well. Pretty sure I know what kind of suppressor I would like to get for it but I'm still window shopping.

Decided to give an old gun a new look. I bought the Mosin in '05 with the monte carlo stock already on it. The monte had seen better days so I dressed it up with some textured paint which I will never use again. This should've been a somewhat easy paint job on the stock but that paint just didn't spray well. I was looking for a desert tan color and when I went to buy the paint the "sand" color was out of stock. Seen the "bisque" color and thought it was close enough. In all it didn't turn out bad imo. I'm happy with it. Before

I'm going to have to try and liven my thread back up. Give it time. I obtained some new acquisitions and done a little modding here and there but my newest addition came from an auction in Jasonville back in May. An old Remington 722 chambered in 300 Savage with a mfg date of 1953. I have new scope for it but haven't put it on yet. I would really like to use it this deer season if it proves to be a shooter.

For a more recent purchase I picked this up from a friend who took it in trade plus some cash for one of his rifles. He wanted a Creedmoor and this is a 308 so I didn't mind taking this off his hands. I pulled the scope off of my other 308 which will most likely get sold soon. The scope is a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16. I haven't put a lot of rounds down range with yet but I really like it.

Got my first AR10. I've wanted one for quite a while but never could get myself to drop some coin for one (which is kind of odd for me). Anywho, PSA upper and lower, .308 18" stainless barrel with an mlok hand guard. The scope mount hasn't arrived yet but the Vortex optic that is on the Remington in the post above this will reside on this new one. The Remington got a slightly better scope on it last year from a Black Friday sale.

OK so I didn't like the first scope I put on the AR10 so I ended up with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 instead. I think it fits the gun better. I did get some trigger time with it and took it out the last weekend of deer season in hopes of punching a doe tag in Greene Co. That didn't happen as the only deer I seen were 2 small bucks. The ATF cashed the check for my form 1 suppressor last week so now I wait another 6 or 7 months before I get to bring it home. Back in December Sig Sauer and Top Guns in TH were running a deal where they would pay the $200 tax stamp. Basically, they knocked $200 off the cost of the can and I'm responsible for still sending the stamp money to the feds (or in my case Silencer Shop sent them a check as I used their kiosk at Top Guns to submit the paperwork). Cost an extra $45 ($40 to Top Guns and $5 to Silencer Shop) to use the kiosk. It makes the suppressor buying process easier and in my eyes was worth the $45. So anyway my soon to be suppressor is the SRD762 which is rated up to a 300 winmag. It is not the fancy titanium, QD version and I did pay less than what the website says (even before the $200 price drop). I may actually start coyote hunting and I'll probably use it for deer season too. Why not? The video on the website is for the QD version but mine is the direct thread (there is a pic of it). I don't think I'll ever need to quickly attach or detach a suppressor from a rifle. www.sigsauer.com/store/srd762.html

I have a friend that is considering on getting a suppressor for a rifle he has. He is also wanting it to use for yote hunting. Is it safe for him to expect to wait several months and jump through multiple hoops to get one? Neither he nor I have any experience with that process. Thanks.

There really aren't any (or hardly any) hoops to jump through with this. Especially if he finds a shop that has the Silencer Shop kiosk. People that use it first have to download the Silencer Shop app to their phone and they will have to request a code to use the kiosk. After that it's all basic question answering (very similar questions like when buying a firearm) and the fingerprinting can be done on the kiosk as well. No need to go to the local PD and get fingerprinted on cards and have to mail them in. All done electronically. There is just that extra charge for the convenience factor. I received an email from Silencer Shop after the ATF cashed the check stating that it's just best to forget about it because you will wait 6-12 months before the ATF will approve the stamp. I think the current wait from time of purchase right now is 8 months. So I hope to have mine by August.

Thanks!

Already getting anxious for this suppressor. Yesterday I removed the flash hiders from a couple AR's so I can run them suppressed. I got on Ebay and bought some 5/8x24 thread protectors for them. They almost look neutered without the flash hiders. I finally sold my Savage Hog Hunter in 308. Even though it was already threaded and one of the main reasons for buying in anticipation of getting a suppressor. On the other hand I also picked this up. Bought a Bergara HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. It has a threaded barrel. Also takes AICS detachable mags. I am strongly thinking about parting with the Remington 700 308 after buying this. That one isn't threaded. I will probably use the Bergara more than the 700. The Bergara is a lot lighter and that 700 isn't really the ideal elk rifle (it does have some poundage). It's a great gun but after a while it gets heavy. Just packing it around for local deer hunting was enough to make me realize I don't want to pack that thing out west trying to get an elk. The only down fall is the bullet diameter for a 6.5 is .264". For Kentucky elk you have to use a .270 or larger bullet. So the Creedmoor is out if I draw that Kentucky elk tag. The states out west allow (I believe) a .243 and up (some restrictions on bullet performance do apply). Here's the Bergara. I haven't shot it yet but a dry fire reveals a stupid light trigger. Overall light weight for the gun, 2 front stud mounts for sling and bipod and it has QD mounts on both sides if you want to run that type of sling. Adjustable cheek riser too.

So far it has been 3 months since the ATF cashed my check for the suppressor stamp. After checking the wait times I'm still looking at an August/September time frame for receiving the stamp. I was also wrong in one of my posts above as it's a Form 4; not a Form 1. No one had called me out on that yet. IIRC, a form 1 is making your own NFA item and a form 4 is transferring from a dealer to an individual or trust.
