Thanks for checking, Chase. I'm gonna poke around on ice today and report back what I see.

I found 4 inches north of Bloomington. Think me and Natahka are going to check it out in the morning. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up.

I bet Lake X is done. Every pond I passed this morning was either open or has standing water on top of the ice.

I got some things to do today, but I may take a drive tomorrow to check it out. Pretty fast ice fishing season!!

Better take a boat LOL!! It was 50 yesterday and didn't get to freezing last night.

Yes a boat might be a good idea!! I would expect the edges to be damaged or gone, but I can't imagine that all 4 inches would have been lost in just one day. Especially with the temps dropping again and not much sunshine (at least it is cloudy here). Oh well, it will make a nice drive after I take my FIL to the airport in the morning.

Guide is a pretty strong word!! LOL. The Geist ice held up pretty good except the geese have made an even larger hole in my access spot. Still haven't seen anybody out fishing anywhere, though.

I checked Midland lake a few days ago... 4" near shore but quickly dropped to 2-2.5" 20ft out. Pretty disappointed about not getting on ice so far. Maybe February will bring more ice.

My local news station just did their February outlook. They are expecting the first few days of the month to be unseasonably warm but they are projecting below normal temps for the remainder of the month...and they did state that February is the coldest month of the year up here. I am hopeful that we get a few more weeks of ice and that you guys are able to get a little as well.

Lakes up north are bad shape. I hope FEB weather treats us better.. moved our derby to feb 11th. Even now that seems a long shot. it was 65 here yesterday.

I'm surprised you had that much ice. Pretty sketchy up north too! Not sure about you but we've had a lot of rain in the past couple of weeks.
Edit: Sorry, I just realized I was responding to Chase's post from a year ago. Nevermind. Anyhow, we have zero ice up north. Took a drive yesterday and my home lake was 98% open with just a little ice pushed up against the windy side of the lake. We will be hard pressed to walk on water again this season.
