Keep us posted. This might be the year I pull the boat down and see what I can do. I know your folks do a lot of spider rigging and trolling. Have they done any good casting curly tail or tube jigs?

Welllllll? Are you there yet? LOL! The boards have been pretty quiet today. We need some fish porn.

Gail and me haven't wetted a line yet, but we plan on changing that tomorrow. The wind is suppose to be howling so we'll probably just stay on the river and canals. Mom and dad only caught 2 today.

Fishing is still really slow. No one down here seems to be catching anything right now. A lot of guys are blaming it on the aggressive weed killing that the state has been doing. Gail and me fished Dexter a couple days ago and I couldn't believe how much more open water there was compared to last year, but we didn't mark a single fish. I assume the weed killing is being done for the pleasure boaters? It's sure not helping the fisherman. Caught my first keeper speck yesterday by dropping jigs through the pads up a creek, and Gail caught a dandy redear from the bank when we got back. That's about it so far. My phone and tapatalk aren't getting along this year so there probably won't be any pics until we get home.

Thanks for the update. Too bad about the missing weeds. Hope you're able to find them before you have to leave. Have a great trip!

One of dad's buddies got on them today and caught 14. We went out and managed 5. Gail had on a SLAB before it got off at the boat. Biggest crappie I've seen in person, at least 2.5# I'd say. She did end up with the biggest of the day and I caught a catfish with a nice spinning combo attached!

Nice bonus on the cat! Glad to see Gail getting in on the slabs. Hopefully you guys can have a good day or two before you have to head home.

I've got some footage on the gopro, but I've just moved and don't have my pc set up yet so it might be a while before I can get any stuff off the video cams. Here's a pic of my first keeper which I pulled out of those thick weeds behind me. The water is 7'deep where those weeds are. And here's Gail's redear caught from the river bank. Dad caught 9 yesterday, so hopefully we'll be getting some good reports soon.

Dad got his first 2 pound plus speck of the year yesterday. A couple slabs were caught last weekend there in a tournament; 3.21 and 2.98, so the big ones are starting to bite.
