Aren't we usually about six weeks behind them?

I'm not sure? I was thinking 4 weeks.

Bring it on! My previous property owner said the morels go crazy in our yard. I'm anxious to confirm that. =)

I'm not sure? I was thinking 4 weeks. You're right. I went back and looked at last year's reports, the first report from Georgia was March 9th and the first (decent) report from Indiana was April 11th.

I saw a couple of reports from folks in Indiana that went out looking. Apparently some people can't be patient.
I'd say we are still at least three weeks away as long as the weather continues the warming trend.

Yep, maybe sooner if it warms up quick, but the forecast isn't looking like it. I usually start looking the last week of March but it's been too cold to even bother so far this winter/spring.

They're getting closer! Looks like it's finally going to warm up next week too.

Checked a spot where I find the early black morels today and it's just not quite time yet. The mayapples are just starting to poke through the leaves and the woods just hasn't "woke up" yet. Won't be long though.

I'm thinking this weekend there should be a few popping.

Been hearing of local finds. One more long night of work and I'll be out after them!
