Been out a few times coyote hunting. me and a buddy set out one morning overlooking a nice sized pasture and as soon as we were able to see through the scope started calling on the fox pro with some rabbit distress. 30 seconds in i catch movement. I was video taping, so i told him to get ready here comes one over the hill. Lo and behold, it's a big old doe coming froma bout 200 yards away. She runs directly to the call then kinda spooks and gets confused and stands to our left at 10 yards. later, at the same stand, we have probly about 100 crows circling us overhead and making so much racket you can;t even hear the foxpro anymore.Next, a redtail hawk swoops in. NExt set is 150 yards form this one. Called in a cow, came from completely across the field straight to the call. And tonight, I started out with some bird distress, then after 4 calling sequences of bird distress I hit em with some red fox distress. This is when I am on high alert to see the coyote. I hear leaves thrashing and crunching to my left getting closer. Here comes a coyote. I press my shotgun tight to my shoulder with finger on the safety. It gets closer and i see that its a coon. He ran to my call and jumped on top of it. I shut it off so he wouldnt tear it apart. He just sat there on top of it thinking, What the heck kind of trick is this? He scurried back to the woods and climbed a tree. I put on some coon fight and he ran right back. Didnt shoot cause i was using my expensive buckshot. haha Definitely gonna try some more coon calling soon, with a 22lr in hand! Maybe set up some kind of decoy he can attack instead of the call. maybe put out a little black stuffed animal near the call. OH, then with the coon fight still blaring after the coon left, i had a small buck walk right in about 10 yards away like he was deaf.lol
