Well I noticed that every pond and even the creek was locked up with ice this morning on my way to work. Looks like a warm up this weekend though and the forecast doesn't show any ice making weather in the near future. I knew it was a pipe dream to get on the ice soon, but I'm looking forward to it.

I was wondering who was gonna be the first to "BREAK THE ICE" on this subject. I am still unsure if we will even get good ice this year. Farmers Almanac says it will be colder than last year, BUT at the same time, Meterologists are saying ti will be warmer.

I'm a little superstitious and hate to count chickens before they're hatched, but it would be totally awesome to go right from deer hunting to ice fishing!!!!

Got on our pond yesterday evening for a little while. Had 5 inches around the edge and 3 inches in the middle. Couldn't find any bait in town, so I was using some beemoth I found in Dad's garage that had been sitting there for who knows how long. They worked though! Caught 6 or 7, but they were all small compared to the ones I know are in there. Looks like the temps are gonna be around 50 for the next 4 days, so the ice will be shot by the time I'm off again.

That is truly a shame and it could have been prevented.

Definitely a sickening story. We never want to read stories like that, especially when it involves kids.

I'm ready to pull some "specks" through the ice if it ever cools down again.

That's funny you put that up there, Troy. I just had some ratsos delivered to the house last night. Never tried one before, so I hope they work.

Ratso's catch perch too. Not what I was hoping to catch, but I won't complain.
