I was mowing before the storm hit last night and came across what I thought to be old morels in late August. Well after looking at them closer, I'm gonna say they are not. I've never seen the hatched egg like base before. They were growing under a hard maple where I've found greys though.

Those are "stinkhorn mushrooms." Here's a video of one of the "eggs" cut into. Kind of creepy.
