A couple buddies of mine are splitting the rent on a place on Fox Lake south of Terre Haute. It's only 5 minutes from where I work, so I stopped for a visit Friday evening. My first view of the lake was from their second story deck and when I looked down it was like looking at the surface of the moon.....bluegill beds everywhere! A couple other buddies showed up and we all had boats, but one guy stayed on the bank and ended up filling a basket with bluegill and redear on crickets. Soon as the bobber hit the water it would go under. That pit is just full of panfish. They're not monsters, but nice thick eating sized. I was just farting around with jigs, rooster tails, and spinners and caught quite a few. I ended up tying on a G&G MiniChub and buzzed it across the top of the nests and BAM! Caught a nice redear and nice bluegill on consecutive casts doing that. Caught several more doing the same thing with a 2lb bass thrown in for fun.
