Well, now I can say that I've ice fished in March before, although I can't say that I've caught a fish through the ice in March. Got skunked. Thought they'd really bite too. Fished over 2 hours and marked 1 fish. I was fishing on Shakamak Lake in the same neck that I had been catching a few. There was a few guys there fishing a downed tree and they left and walked across the main body of the lake, so I figured the ice must be good there too. I decided to go out in the middle to one of my favorite spots and give it a try. I noticed the ice was a different color out on the main body, but didn't think that much of it. I got out there and noticed an old hole that was open. I stood there staring at the hole trying to figure out why the ice was so clear and looked so thin. Set my stuff down and stuck the scoop in the hole and the ice was only a couple inches thick! I slowly grabbed my gear and got my fat ass back into the neck where I fished until I realized how stupid I was for being out there. I measured 7 inches of "good" ice with a couple inches of slush ice in the neck, but it was melting fast. The edges were SHOT.

Unfortunately yes I have joined that club"polar bear" an once you do it you'll be a lot more careful on the hard water. Boy do I have plenty of stories about every incident,an hind sight I realize how big of an idot I was at the time.hahaha
