Chase and me went over to our Owen County "honey hole" pit today, and I guess I need to stop calling it that. Caught 2 keepers and they were nothing to brag about. Came home and ate some chili then went to the pond and didn't do much better. Poor Chase; I had immediately marked fish and caught a keeper and a small one, so I let him take my place with the Humminbird and my rod and moved over to his spot....and I almost immediately caught 2 keepers! I really did feel bad for him....his only day off this week and he catches 2 dinks all day. I'm not sure what's going on, but this is the worst year I've ever seen as far as catching big numbers through the ice. Chase is 19, and has never been on this much local ice before. Catching one on Chase's setup while he used mine. Not everyone had a bad day though. I've got a buddy who was wanting to go today and I invited him to go with us, but he ended up going with his uncle at a private spot near Greene-Sullivan. He made the right choice! Said they threw back more than they kept...

It has always seemed to me that the longer the ice is around the tougher the fishing gets. I'm not sure if others would agree with me or not, but that has been my observation.
