Tough day out there for me today I got a late start due to being out to late the night before. But anyway I hit my favorite pit about 9:00am and I could tell by looking at the water it was going to be tough. Not to mention the wind blowing strait out of the east. But I managed 1 14in bass in the a.m. Then about 5p.m. I headed out to another pit that is more like a lake, I got 2 -16inch bass all these were caught on soft plastic baits fished slow and dead sticking at times. That topwater bite ought to be coming but still a no go here.

Looks like you caught a couple of good fish despite the tough conditions.

The other day a coworker said "Wind from the south blows the lures in their mouth".

"Winds from the west fish bite best, winds from the east fish bite least, winds from south blows lures in there mouth" This is what my grandpa always used to say.

Wind from the north?

Winds from the north is tricky. I've heard some people add in "winds from the north, stay on your porch." But I can't say I've always found that true. Sometimes those north coming winds bring in some crazy fronts, which will almost always trigger a feeding response from fish.

Someone needs to come up with a good anecdote for a north wind.

Based off of personal experiences and this is close to rhyming: Winds from the north it is not worth. See, not quite.

I think we can work with that one.
I heard a good one recently pertaining to fishing and rain. The best times to fish are when it is raining and when it isn't.
I'm sure there's someone out there who feels the same way with the wind. Personally I find any strong wind makes bobber fishing tough and a good majority of my fishing involves live bait under a float.

My philosophy is to go whenever you can. A day missed on the water is one you'll never get back.
