After work again for me today and the bite was almost not there. Lost a small one and managed 1 nice bass that I believe to be a 4lber. Caught it on a homemade soft plastic worm a buddy made for me. IMG_0559 by fishinphoto, on Flickr

What is up with the bass bite this year? I can't seem to get anything going ever since June hit.

One of those days where quality beat quantity. I like early morning topwater in June and July, and when I say early, I mean the sun is barely showing on the horizon. Baits like buzzbaits, jitter bugs and poppers. I know other baits work and it depends on where you are fishing, but that seems to be my most productive time.

Looks like you're gonna be hard to beat again this month, George.
