Thanks for the tip Troy. I should have a chance to get after the carp again next week so I will update again then.

Well, my fishing buddy and I came as close as we ever have to landing the carp we are after. my buddy hooked it early this morning and fought it for about 10 minutes. it finally seemed to be tiring out and we had it in the shallows right by the shore. our netting attempt caused it to go on another huge run and it managed to spit the hook which was in its bottom lip.
So any big fish netting tips in shallow water near the shore? Any special ways to land big carp? How should we treat the fish when its out of the water?

Best way to handle carp is get a carp matt or even a carp/catfish sling
