Did some major walking this morning and ended up with 1 small yellow that was dried up. I thought they'd be everywhere after all the storms came through. The only theory I could come up with is the ground hasn't warmed enough yet and with the cold temps the front brought conditions just weren't right. They're calling for highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's the next 2 days so this week might not be the shroomapalooza I thought it would.

Sorry to hear about your family's loss, Tony. Congrats on the mushroom finds. Did you get a count to enter in the IndianaAngler contest? Chase and me need some competition over there. I redeemed myself a little bit this evening. I decided to check one of my black patches again and found 3 nice yellows on the way. Found a few nice black ones too. I was bent over picking one and looked over and saw this one peeking out from under a leaf.... ....which after pulling the leaves off turned out to be the biggest I found today! All of these shrooms had one thing in common; they had been up a while. All of these would have been up before the storms of the past 2 days. The lone exception was a little black that looked like it had just popped up. I found several today that were so dried up that they crumbled to pieces when I tried to pick them.

unfortunately I did not get a final count. They were being cut and soaked as I was bringing them in. But I'm not done yet. Thank you for your condolances. He was very dear to me, and I will never forget him. We were very close. after all HE is the one i spent my child hood hunting and fishing with, and learning from. Him and grandma adopted me when I was 8 months old, so we were got to spend alot of time togeather. "BACK TO SHROOMS" I found QUITE A FEW SMALL grays today. By SMALL I mean around an Inch. The SMALLEST I found was with the 3 in the first photo. It was around a quater inch TOTAL! It was growing off the side of the small one in the first photo. I work tomarrow at noon, so Im gonna go in a little early, and walk some of Honey Creek behind the shop. HOPEFully I'll find some more!

(3) The contest will run from 12:00 AM April 1st 2011 until 11:59 pm May 31st 2011.
(4) Scoring will be 1 point per mushroom.
(5) You can put as many mushrooms in a pic as you like(we trust your count) and tell us how many are in the picture.
(6) All mushrooms must be photographed on a newspaper with the date, if you like you can take a blow up of the date.
(7) The hunter with the most points at the end wins!
(8) The top three will receive a custom hand carved "mushroom stick" and Special Rank added to overall winner's avatar through the end of the 2012 Mushroom Contest.
