Next summer when the sweet corn is ready to eat I'm coming down there and we are doing this. I'll even pay for the shrimp and sausage. Heck, I may even buy some crab to go with it too! LOOKS. SO. GOOD.

GOOD. Heck, we don't need to wait until the sweetcorn is ready. This stuff is good anytime of year. Even the frozen store bought corn on the cob is good in this because it soaks up all the flavors. I'll try to freeze up some ears of corn this week just for our boil.

A couple dozen ears headed to the freezer to await a cool weather low country boil!

Had another shrimp boil for Easter dinner last Sunday. It's getting more expensive to do these, I had about $35 in this one and I use to be able to do them for less than $20. The shrimp was from Baesler's on sale at $9.99 a pound and the jalapeno cheddar sausage and mushrooms was from Savealot. It was still worth it! The corn from last years garden was good, but a little mushy. Probably been better to vacuum pack the ears instead of just freezer bags.

If you ever come up with a way to freeze corn still on the cob without it becoming mushy let me know. I've tried everything I can think of and can't get away from it becoming mushy The flavor is still there but I can't seem to retain the crispiness. I prefer my corn to be supersweet and crispy. Can't beat freshly picked corn on the cob!

Did another boil last night and stuffed myself again. I had $37 in this one with 2 pounds of shrimp and 2 packages of Johnsonville Andoullie sausage. It's pretty sad that food prices have doubled since I started this thread 5 years ago.

Well, I've talked about doing one of these for years but I never have. A while back a had decided when we had good sweet corn that I was going to a shrimp a boil. Corn season is almost done here and I almost forgot to do one but tonight I finally did it! Good stuff! Can't wait until the next time a do one. Thanks for posting this to the site 5 years ago, Troy. And for continually doing these to keep it on the front page.

Mark, In my opinion all the seasonings that I've had are good (Old Bay, Tony Chachere's Cajun, or Zatarain's Crab Boil). Can't go wrong with any of those. The only thing I do that might be a little different is not only do I season the boiling water but I also season everything once it is dumped out on the table. I sure wish I was going to be able to join you guys down there this weekend to partake in this

I'm really bummed I'm not there with you guys tonight. Starting a 48hr nightshift weekend instead. Sorry I didn't see this sooner; our 10gb of satellite internet was used up and so was my phone data! I know it's too late now, but my fav seasoning for the boils is Zataran's and then I sprinkle some Tony Chachere's on after it comes out.

Been a while since I did just a shrimp boil but we had some shrimp and sausage in the freezer and I was hungry so that's what we did! Mom and Dad's fresh sweet corn went perfect in it.
