Tried Lenape this morning and didn't have the first bite. There were about a dozen guys on the ice and I didn't see anyone catching anything. I heard it was the same over on Kickapoo, but I did hear that some were being caught on Shakamak. There was 4¼ inches of ice and it was slick as snot, the snows gone. I came home and drilled a couple holes in the pond and caught a few small 'gills(just to get the skunk off ). I'm gonna have lunch then try it again. I guess I'll try my old honey hole Shakamak Lake, that's where I catch most of my hard water fish, but I was really hoping to get into some bigger ones on Lenape.

I joined Dad after school. He had 6 gills. I kept 4 and Dad kept one more to make a mess of 11. We also talked to Elvis on the way out. Dad's Big One

Thanks for joining me Chase. It was a weird bite this evening. I caught all of my fish 3-4 feet off the bottom and I missed more than I caught. Had a few up to the hole that got off and even the ones we caught spit the hook when they hit the ice. We plan on going back in the morning, it will probably be our last hard water fishing this season.

Well, we didn't go this morning. The boys wanted to sleep in and Kim wasn't thrilled about her boys going out on that melting ice anyhow. It was fun while it lasted, but that's probably it for ice fishing this year.

your ice is already bad at this time of year? geez. ice fishing is just really heating up on Lake Erie and the inland water will be frozen for a while yet.

Dang! I wanted to go down there soooo bad. This would've been my first ice fishing experience at the pits. What's hard to believe is that I've seen a lot of ice reports from around Indy and they are all saying things are still ok there. You're not much further south, why do you think the ice is so much poorer in your area? I will be checking reports religiously - any info or pic's from down there showing conditions throughout the week would be greatly appreciated
