With deteoriating ice conditions and 3-10 inches of wet slush covering Erie's surface...making for difficult travel - Mike Townsend, friend Bobby, along with his son Jimmy....we headed back to the Big Pond for one last hurrah on the Ice. Wish we had a snowmobile or airboat. Fishing was slow in some areas, but after half a day of searching and six or seven moves we found an area where the walleyes were "floppin' on the deck. We were about 4.5 - 5 miles out from Metzger's Marsh and we saw numerous walleye being caught throught the ice, including a 10 pounder. The guys fishing in a small group next to us had their "Limit" of 24 walleye and another group had their 12 walleye "limit"....with many of these walleye in the 4 and 5 pound range. Although we didn't get a limit, the walleye we caught were nice ones! We caught them on a chrome & black Jiggin Ralpala #5 and on a Perch colored Buckshot Jiggin Spoon. Our biggest walleye was 26 inches. Thanks again Mike, Bobby, & Jimmy for the memorable experience.

Nice eyes, looks like I got somebody to call this spring. Love to fish there. Keep us posted as to openings and how the bite is.
