A guy I work with went to the Arrowhead Ranch in south Texas last week to hog hunt. The Arrowhead Ranch is famous for deer hunting and breeding on their 12,000 acres. The ranch has had some problems with hogs around their deer feeders and this "problem" has turned into another way for them to make money. It was $700 for 2½ days hunting which included lodging, meals and 2 hogs. The only problem the guy had was that he killed both his hogs the first afternoon. He said he just drank beer the rest of the weekend. His biggest weighed 220 and had some huge tusks. (I seen the pics.) He said there's some Mexicans that work at the ranch that will butcher your hog for 20 bucks. His buddy's hunt ended pretty quick too, he killed 2 hogs with one shot! Spined the one he was shooting at and hit one behind it right in the eye. I thought this sounded like a pretty decent deal with food and lodging included. This biggest draw back is that it's a 24 hour drive from central Indiana. www.thearrowheadranch.com/index.html

There is a lodge in Tennesse, Wilderness Lodge I think it is called. It always has an ad in the back of Field & Stream and the likes shows a clipart of a boar. We went there in 2001 and had a blast, it was around $500 for a weekend, that lodging, food, and processing. However this was a fenced hunt but could be made however easy or hard you wanted. We hiked the mountains the first day and scouted "wild" pigs way back in the hills away from the lodge and feeders. We then went after them on day two and the three of us all tagged out about the same time on separate wild groups.
So $700 for a true wild hunt and two hogs sounds to me like a heck of a deal.

20 bucks wow Mexicans work cheap lol Yeah, sometimes "you get what you pay for" The hunt does sound like a really good deal though. If four guys could all split gas and ride down together, it would probably be well worth it. Wild hog is delicious, too!

I have heard that if a wild hog is above 100 pounds the meat isn't very good. Anyone else hear anything like that?
